The failure of moral studies

16-year-old Lai Ying Xin was abducted and murdered, the suspects has already been arrested by police. What was in the mind of these killers that they demanded ransom money from her parents when she is already dead? The question is : What next?

The majority of the suspects detained are barely 18 years old. Under the law, the MAXIMUM punishment they get if they are guilty of kidnapping and murder is to be sent to juvenile detention centre until they reach the age of 21. After their release, they will be a serious threat to our community. This is your privilege as a juvenile guilty of committing a serious crime. They are also many cases where armed robbery by juvenile causing death to the victim but they too escape with a light punishment.

It is time to change, time to impose heavy punishment to juveniles who commit all these types of crime. Just sentence them to death as they are inhumane, strangling her to death with their bare hands and torching her body. Even in normal cases, murderer can sometimes be charged with the lesser manslaughter. These people are even worse than animals. Animals do care, and that’s why my mom sometimes says that it is better to keep a pet.

Does the government knows that the Malaysian education system is a failure? What did students learn from their Moral Studies? Students today just memorize the 36 so called “nilai murni” and they get an A in SPM. This is what they know. They spit and throw rubbish everywhere along the road when the dustbin is just beside them. Teenagers nowadays are worse compared to teenagers in the 1960s although they were not schooling. Teenagers of this generation are mostly “biadap” that maybe school dropouts behave better.

I hope that the Education ministry look into the Moral Studies subject. Don’t just let students memorize solely from the textbooks, it isn’t much use if you get an A but behave like an animal.

And lastly, all murderers, regardless of age, should be hanged to death.
